Karis is a fiction writer and scholar of race, religion, and popular culture in American and transpacific contexts. Her academic, public-facing, and creative writing have been published in a variety of venues. She holds an A.B. in History and East Asian Studies from Brown University and an M.A. in Religion from Yale Divinity School.
