The Gerber Fund was endowed in memory of Kenneth A. Gerber, a former graduate student in the Department, to facilitate greater communication and interaction between the Fields of Study in the Department of Religious Studies. Mr. Gerber’s family and friends started the memorial fund to support greater interaction among graduate students across the many fields. Sponsored events include peer-to-peer dissertation presentations, professionalization workshops, discussions of topical issues in the study of religion, and the much-beloved annual bowling night. Graduate students may propose an event any time they wish to the department Chair.

There are private offices available to reserve for TF/PTAI use in Humanities Quadrangle (HQ) along with student lounges and meeting rooms.  Students reserve such spaces through25Live. (Lounge 428 closest to Religious Studies; meeting rooms (422 and 432 closest to Religious Studies). 

Each semester, the Graduate School offers its Meals for Mentoring program, an opportunity for students and mentors to discuss research, coursework, career goals, and personal and professional development over a free lunch.

The Graduate School Procedure for Student Complaints governs most student complaints, including, but not limited to, complaints of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability, or sexual orientation, against a member of the faculty or administration of the Graduate School. Complaints that involve a misapplication of Graduate School policy are also appropriate for consideration by the Dean’s Advisory Committee on Student Grievances. Complaints that require an emendation of policy will be referred to the Graduate School Executive Committee.

University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct is designed to address allegations of sexual misconduct and is available to students, faculty and staff across the University according to the guidelines described in the Committee’s Procedures. Any person who believes they may have experienced sexual misconduct may also contact the Sexual Harassment and Assault Response & Education (SHARE) Center, the Title IX Coordinators, the Yale Police Department, or the New Haven Police Department.
