Aurora Lynelle Celestin

Aurora Lynelle Celestin (she/her) is a womanist writer, theologian, preacher, and educator originally from New York City. Her work as artist and theorist at the cross-section of theology and creative writing considers the ways Black women’s literary arts serve as theopoetic wellspring. She is exploring how Black women writers combine Black aesthetics and God-talk from the margins to bring to light and metabolize trauma, index to life over death, and construct an evolving canon of womanist arts.

Aurora holds a B.A. in religion and creative writing from Columbia University (’20), an M.F.A. in creative writing for fiction from The New School (’22), and an M.Div. in ministerial leadership and theology from Union Theological Seminary (‘25). She is pursuing ordination for deacon’s orders in the United Methodist Church.
