Graduates of the Department of Religious Studies teach in the leading colleges, universities, and seminaries in this country and around the world. The faculty in the Department are instrumental to student’s professionalization efforts, and will offer advice on job searches, write letters of recommendation, and contact relevant search committees. Increasingly faculty have become knowledgeable about, and pursue further familiarity with, alternative locations for employment following the completion of a doctoral degree. However, it should be clear that the graduate program in the Department of Religious Studies is presently organized toward the placement of its students in academic contexts for employment. Students seeking additional advice and support during their time at Yale should connect with the McDougal Graduate Student Center.
