Field of Interest:
American Religious History, Theology
Michael is a first-year PhD student in theology and American religious history. His research is at the intersection of colonial/modern histories of Christian doctrine, black religion/black studies, and black pentecostalism(s). More specifically, Michael is interested in interrogating narratives of progress common to projects of settler colonialism, doctrines of sanctification, and (trans)national migrations in light of the structuring realities of antiblackness. A second-generation immigrant from the “West Indies,” Michael was born and raised in South Florida before relocating to Chicago, IL for college. He holds degrees from Moody Bible Institute (BA), Wheaton College (MA), and Emory University’s Candler School of Theology (MTS).
