Linden Abston

Linden Abston is a doctoral student in the Department of Religious Studies. Their work on the Christian doctrine of theological anthropology explores the formative roles of suffering and trauma in identity formation and considers the significance of such formation for a robust conception of the imago Dei. Linden’s work emerges from their commitment to furthering constructive theological discourse about suffering in ways that simultaneously honor the intrinsic goodness of human lives bound up in legacies of trauma and resist common tendencies to glorify or otherwise legitimate experiences of adversity and oppression. They are also interested broadly in liberation theologies and the doctrines of creation and Christology.

Linden is originally from Reston, VA and holds a BA from George Mason University, a JD from George Washington University, and an MDiv from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.
