Placement

Graduates of the Department of Religious Studies teach in the leading colleges, universities, and seminaries in this country and around the world. Graduates also work in the public and private sector in multiple positions, including jobs in corporate, non-profit, religious, and artistic institutions. The Department of Religious Studies welcomes applicants interested in obtaining a Ph.D. for many potential professional, intellectual, and personal reasons.

The faculty in the Department are instrumental to students’ professionalization efforts, and will offer advice on job searches, write letters of recommendation, and contact relevant search committees. Students should begin to think about future professional life early in their program, and can consider the many departments, programs, and professional schools at Yale University as resources in their efforts to prepare themselves for careers inside and outside of the academy.
