Christian spirituality scholar and author Lauren Winner will be at YDS on Wednesday, January 31, and Thursday, February 1, as the Luccock Visitor for 2024.

The Rev. Dr. Lauren F. Winner is Associate Professor of Christian Spirituality at Duke Divinity School and Vicar of St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C. She writes and lectures widely on Christian practice, the history of Christianity in America, and Jewish-Christian relations. Her books include Girl Meets God; Mudhouse Sabbath, a study of household religious practice in 18th-century Virginia: A Cheerful and Comfortable Faith; Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis; and, most recently, Wearing God, on overlooked biblical tropes for God. She is currently writing about incarceration and Christian saints and the prayer lives of non-human creation. Dr. Winner is a former fellow at the ISM, calling the experience one of the best and most important years of her life.

The Luccock Visitorship was established in 1963 in memory of Halford E. Luccock, who served as professor at YDS 1928 to 1953, by gifts from alumni and other friends. The Luccock Visitor, usually a parish minister, is invited to spend several days at YDS. This visitorship is given every second year, alternating with the Hoskins Visitorship.
