Mona Siddiqui, a well-known British scholar of Islam and Christian-Muslim relations, will give the Divinity School’s Bartlett Lecture on Wednesday, October 9.
The lecture, titled “Religious Pluralism: Essential or a Challenge to Liberal Democracy?” will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Niebuhr Hall with a reception to follow in the OId Common Room.
Siddiqui will explore how the mix of different religious and cultural identities has raised unique challenges for secular liberal states, requiring a rethinking of the limits of pluralism, individualism, and human rights for cultural cohesion.
Mona Siddiqui’s Bartlett lecture will be broadcast on the YDS Livesteam channel and available for replay on Livestream and YouTube.
