Join us on December 10 in Woolsey Hall as Yale Schola Cantorum, conducted by David Hill, perform Weihnachts Oratorium BWV 248 (or the Christmas Oratorio) by Johann Sebastian Bach. The concert will also be live streamed at this link:

Yale Schola Cantorum is a chamber choir that performs sacred music from the sixteenth century to the present day in concert settings and choral services around the world.

Professor David Hill has a long and distinguished career as one of the leading conductors in Europe. His positions have included being chief conductor of the BBC Singers and musical director of the Bach Choir. He is currently adjunct professor of Choral Conducting at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and principal conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum.

A pre-concert lecture, “Sacred Love Songs and Royal Jubilation: Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and its History” will be offered by Professor Markus Rathey at 6:30 pm in Sheffield-Sterling-Strathcona Hall, room 114. This building is located diagonally across the street from Woolsey Hall with the entrance at 1 Prospect Street. Staff will be present to guide you. Rathey is the Robert S. Tangeman Professor in the Practice of Music History at Yale. The talk is in-person only and will not be live streamed.
