“Living Buildings and Building with Love” Sorensen Lecture with Jason McLennan

Event description: 

Jason McLennan, a green buildings pioneer who founded the Living Building Challenge, will give the Divinity School’s annual Sorensen Lecture on Tuesday, January 31.
Titled “Living Buildings and Building with Love,” Mr. McLennan’s lecture will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Niebuhr Hall with a reception to follow.
Off-campus visitors are welcome to attend but are required to register in advance, bring proof they are vaccinated and boosted, and follow Yale University mask guidance and all other University health and safety guidelines.

A native of Sudbury, Ontario, McLennan is founder, former chair, and current board member of the International Living Future Institute and Cascadia Green Building Council. He is the CEO of McLennan Design, an architecture and planning firm that works globally. McLennan and his work have been recognized with awards from organizations including GreenBiz.com, the Buckminster Fuller Challenge, and the Ashoka Fellows program. In 2011, he was named one of Yes! magazine’s “Breakthrough 15,” and in 2016 he received the Award of Excellence from Engineering News-Record magazine.
McLennan is the author of seven books, including “Philosophy of Sustainable Design” (2004), :The Ecological Engineer” (2006), and “LOVE+GREEN BUILDING: You and Me and the Beautiful Planet” (2020).
The Margaret Lindquist Sorensen Lectureship was established in 1978 by a gift from her son, Dr. Andrew A. Sorensen ’62 B.D., to provide an annual lecture on politics and ethics.
